During one afternoon more than 200 students came in small teams of 3 students for 2 hours to collect all the rubbish around different places in the school (the sports centre, the swimming pool and the smoking area). We had set up a perimeter which was not to be exceeded. The City Council provided gloves and rubbish bags.
We collected 4,440 kg of cigarette butts.
thus 31,460 kg of recyclable waste
and finally 22,600 of non-recyclable waste.
The goal was to make everyone aware of the amount of waste thrown away in the nature around our school.- Last year with the Lycée Julliot de la Morandière which is situated just opposite our school, we came up with the idea of putting our two CVLs(CVL : Students council) together to establish a common project.
